Master Gardener

Piper

Piper started her gardening business in 2016 in the front yard of her McKinney home. What began with a few raised beds and curious neighbors grew — one chef at a time — into a decade of designing, building, and managing culinary gardens for restaurants, hotels, and corporate campuses across North Texas.

She's a Texas Master Gardener who has spent ten years learning exactly what grows here, what fails here, and what nobody tells you about gardening in this climate. That knowledge lives in the commercial gardens she still manages today. The Grower's Life is where she brings it home — to backyard gardeners who want to grow real food and eat better because of it.

Testimonial Reviews

I met Piper through my daughter and son-in-law's restaurant in McKinney, TX. Chef Robert had a garden for his restaurant Patina Greens. Piper took such great care of that space that when I was ready to install my own home garden I knew I needed Piper's help. She did not disapoint and we grow so many leafy green in our small city yard.

Hey Piper, Hope all is well with you! I've been meaning to text you for a while now... I am thoroughly enjoying our garden. It's super light at the moment, but we have really loved having all of the fresh produce... Sweet potatoes and herbs for Thanksgiving, tomatoes galore, even jars of fermented tomatoes and peppers that were too numerous to eat, beets, parsleys and the ever consistent, hardy chard just keeps on giving! Had broccoli with chicken tonight, the last of the beets for tomorrow, and oh yeah, I had no idea how much basil was needed for basil, but it was amazing!

We recently purchased land in Mississippi to start an organic farm and garden. We had no idea where to start so we called Piper. She had previously designed a small cottage garden for us in McKinney, TX. so we knew she was an incredible resource. She is intelligent and creative but also possesses deep experiential knowledge. Piper is kind, patient, and relatable. She is an excellent teacher with a gift for communicating essential information while also instilling and inspiring confidence in her client. If you hire Piper, you definitely won’t be disappointed. She is simply amazing!

“The struggle has always been educating people on what a real garden actually costs. I’d rather be honest about that upfront than have someone surprised after the fact. Materials, plants, soil, labor and time are all small parts to a finished project. ”

How much does a raised garden bed cost?

The systems we provide fall into 3 price ranges with our full turnkey installations. A simple beginner patio herb box starts at $900. The larger patio kit starts at $1200. For example, a 400 sq. ft. garden at 20x20 would range from $9600 to $14,000 to professionally install.

What is a "Turnkey" System vs. A DIY Garden?

Turnkey gardening systems are 100% built, installed, planted and irrigated raised bed gardens at your location. We use a landscape crew to prep the site space, then lay fabric, pea gravel and boarders. The beds are built, filled with organic soil mix, planted and irrigation is attached and set up in each box. Any additional accessories like a trellis , a fence or outdoor fixtures are included in the installation. We price the professional turnkey gardens to include everything needed and consider it an outdoor living space.
